As I sit here reflecting on the many milestones of 2024, I am humbled by the journey that brought me to this moment. Today, I want to share something deeply personal—a letter I received on August 9, 2024. A letter from The White House, signed by President Joe Biden, congratulating me on my achievements.

This letter, while personal, carries more meaning than words can express. It represents acknowledgment—not just of my work, but of the resilience, perseverance, and faith that have defined my journey. It is a reminder that even when the odds seem insurmountable, the effort to rise, to contribute, and to serve is always worth it.

President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are two individuals who have also overcome incredible odds in their own lives and careers. Their leadership has inspired so many of us to believe that challenges are steppingstones, and that progress is always possible. I want to take this moment to thank them both for their service to our nation and to wish them well as they continue to shape their legacies.

Fast forward to January 16, 2025—yesterday—I was re-elected as Vice-Chair of the King County Board of Health. This honor, granted by my fellow board members, is one that I do not take lightly. It represents a full-circle moment for me, as I have the opportunity to give back to a system that once supported me during some of my most difficult times.

One of the highlights of my service has been the opportunity to work on the inaugural King County Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) alongside a few of my fellow Board of Health members. CHIP is the first of its kind in our county—a transformative initiative designed to identify and address critical health priorities for our community. The significance of this plan cannot be overstated, as it lays the foundation for meaningful, actionable improvements in the health and well-being of all of the over 2 million King County, Washington residents. Being part of such an innovative and collaborative effort has been an incredible honor and responsibility.

Serving as Chair of the Health & Homelessness Workgroup has also been one of the most meaningful roles of my life. It allowed me to advocate for equitable health access, particularly for those facing homelessness, a challenge I deeply understand. These experiences continue to fuel my passion for creating solutions that empower individuals and families to thrive, regardless of their circumstances.

At Childress Nursing Services (CNS), this same commitment to equity and access drives everything we do. Our work to provide in-home fertility and maternity reproductive healthcare is breaking barriers in a field where gaps in care too often go unnoticed. To potential strategic and collaborative partners, I want to say this: CNS is just getting started. We have made great strides, but there is so much more to achieve as we work tirelessly to bring compassionate care into the homes of those who need it most.

As I look back on 2024 and connect the dots to 2025, I am overwhelmed with gratitude—for the mentors, supporters, and colleagues who have walked this path with me. This journey isn’t mine alone. It belongs to everyone who believes in the power of resilience and the beauty of community.

To my fellow board members, thank you for your support in my re-election. To President Biden and Vice President Harris, thank you for your encouragement and example. And to everyone reading this, thank you for believing in the work we do and for being part of this story.

Here’s to a 2025 New Year of building, growing, and serving!

Warmly,

Quiana Daniels
